The Jake White

This last week at camp was amazing. God spoke to me in many ways (ha ha the way.. get it?) Three things really stuck out.

  • Quiet Time
  • Thankfulness
  • Leadership

Right now I am going to focus on quite time. I have always said, “I want to have a quite time.” I even remember lying once about having one so I could sound like “the perfect Christian.” I got over pretending to be perfect awhile ago thankfully. :) I know that I am not perfect and I don’t deserve what has been given to me.

So, back to the quite time. I am going to commit myself to a quiet time every morning. Complete silence, just me and God. Listening, Learning, and then Living it out.

To hold myself accountable to this, I have decided to make a rule for myself: No computer (or iPhone) before Bible study PERIOD

This is radical for me, because I am addicted to the Internet, and if you are reading this, chances are, so are you. It is amazing how I never go one day without making time to check my email, Facebook, Myspace, and 103 blogs that I read every day. But I often go days without making time for the one who created me and gave me everything I have. It is for no other reason that I have been put on this earth other than to glorify Him.

I will probably need to ask myself over and over again: What is more important to me than spending time with God? What do I need to do to fix those priorities?

So… I am going to need your help. I need everyone out there to help keep me accountable. Please? Just a casual “how’s your quiet time goin,” can go a whole long way.

Can’t wait to hear the comments I get at church in the morning!
